Our Commitment to Safety
The Halverson Commitment to Safety

A "Zero-Accident" Safety Culture

The Halverson Company goal for safety is ZERO ACCIDENTS.
There is no aspect of our work as important as the safety of our workers and the public. Too often, these words are without substance in the construction industry. Halverson significantly differs in this respect from many companies by actually integrating safety into each aspect of each company operation. From project conception through execution, no task is performed without planning to do it safely.

The Halverson team approach to safety management ensures the inherent hazards of construction are effectively identified and controlled, minimizing the risk of injury or loss. Each of our employees is directly involved in the safety process. Our success is a direct result of their commitment to work safely.

To help achieve an injury free work environment Halverson Company has implemented the following ongoing training:

  • Safety orientation prior to commencement of work.
  • Daily pre-shift hazards identification.
  • Daily “Catch me if you can“ — A behavior based safety initiative that rewards people for doing things “right.“
  • Weekly “Tool Box Talk“ by Foreman
  • Monthly training on safety regulation and company programs.
  • Biannual “Competency training and recertification“
  • Annually, safety rewards and get-a-way
  • First Aid and CPR training every other year.
  • Confined space entry
  • Fall prevention
  • 100% safety compliance on all jobs (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, fall protection above 6 feet)
  • Safety Committee meets monthly to insure that safety is “continuously improved” and that the safety culture is nurtured and grown.
  • Emergency Response forms for each job site.
  • Safety coordination with customer policies and programs.

These efforts have resulted in dramatic reduction in the frequency of first aid cases and loss time accidents.

  • Reduction of first aid cases by 69%
  • No loss time accidents since 2002
